un- zenTANGLING myself

  Un-zenTANGLING myself

All my life I have considered myself an artist. I have always loved and had a passion for drawing, painting etc. I sometimes dabble in adult coloring and/ or just plain old doodling as well. But I have never done anything quite like zentangles. But recently for my art class in college, I had to learn how to do so. At first I was a little thrown off because I have never heard of them, and when my teacher presented to us what they look like, I was very intrigued. It seemed like something I could enjoy doing even in my free time. Which is exactly what happened

Ever since I completed my first zentangle that I did for class, I found that it was actually quite fun. I thought they would be overwhelming or confusing and to be completely honest they can be. But once you get the hang of it, you see they actually can be a de-stresser.

The process is actually simple. You first start off with your tile and a pencil. With that pencil you draw 4 dots in each corner of the tile. After that you connect the dots, followed by a string. Now the string is where things can get tricky. You have to be able to do it without needing to erase it, because that is the main rule of zentangles. Once you do that by starting in one corner and ending in another, you finally go in with your black pen and start your doodling process. It’s my favorite part because this is what I find to be the most creative part. You can really let loose. Personally I prefer to pop in my ear buds, listen to some music and go to town. And before I know it I'm done and I have a fun little piece of art that I can be proud of and you can too! These are just a few of the examples i have done 🙂
